INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

What is Instructional Technology and what can learning it do for you?

Instructional Technology (as cited in Januszewski & Persichitte, 2009, p. 266), is a systematic way of designing, carrying out, and evaluating the total process of learning and teaching in terms of specific objectives." Why is this important? Most academic librarian graduate with their Masters in Library Science without taking a class on Information Literacy. For the exceptional librarian who took an information literacy course, they did not have an instructional design course to teach them the process of designing, implementing and evaluating instruction. We know you do assessment, but are you assessing the right outcomes? We know you have learning objectives, but are those objectives sequenced in the order that will maximize learning? Our philosophy is to inform every academic librarian of instructional technology and show you how to incorporate it into your lessons.
